Dali can best be described as an obsessive
compulsive. By that I mean he struts around his play stand in
patterns of his own definition, he is extremely resistant to any
changes in his environment and, yes, he plucks.
His plucking has been of some concern to us (he
was a plucker when we got him) and he has calmed down a bit but
any changes to his environment get him going again. He does not
mutilate or pluck excessively - he maintains a layer of down and
some feathers over his body.
Dali, however, is not defined by his plucking
- I guess you could say he transcends his plucking through
his outgoing personality.
Whenever any non-bird person comes into my house
and sees the birds on their playstands the first question (as you
can probably guess) is "Do any of them talk?" Most of
the time I cannot get any of them to be quiet but the only one who
will say anything in front of a stranger is Dali who is happy to
perform his struts and bobbing and "How ya' doin'?" and
clucking like a chicken, barking like a dog - you get the idea...
